Welcome to Week Three of Third Grade!

We are so proud of the wonderful start your scholars have made in third grade. Over the past two weeks, they have worked hard to learn routines, build friendships, and show perseverance in their learning.

This week, we are excited to share a few important updates:

Curriculum Night – Wednesday, August 27, 6:00–8:00 p.m.
We look forward to welcoming parents back into our classrooms for Curriculum Night. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to hear more about our third-grade curriculum, classroom expectations, and the exciting year of learning ahead. We hope to see you there!

Rocket Math Begins
This week we will launch Rocket Math, a program designed to help students build speed and accuracy with their math facts. Mastering these facts will give students a strong foundation for the more complex math concepts we’ll be tackling this year. We encourage you to celebrate your child’s progress at home as they “blast off” with Rocket Math!

Typing Practice
We are officially starting typing this week. If your child would like extra practice at home, they may log in at www.typingclub.com using their Clever QR code (glued inside their agenda). Typing practice will never be a homework assignment or requirement, but it is available as an optional resource if it interests your student and your family approves.

We look forward to another joyful and productive week together as we continue growing in knowledge, responsibility, and perseverance.

Warmly,
🌻 The Third Grade Team

Welcome to Week Two of Third Grade!

Dear Third Grade Families,

We had a wonderful first week together in third grade! Your scholars did an excellent job learning routines, practicing procedures, and beginning to build our classroom community. We are so proud of their perseverance and joy as they started this new year.

This week, we will begin with MAP Testing:

  • Monday, August 18th – Reading MAP

  • Tuesday, August 19th – Math MAP

Please help your scholar be ready by ensuring they get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time. These assessments are simply tools to help us understand where your child is in their learning so we can best support their growth.

Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for Curriculum Night on Wednesday, August 27th from 6:00–8:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about third grade, meet the teachers, and hear about the exciting learning we have planned for the year.

We will continue practicing routines and systems this week, while also diving into our academic subjects. In addition, we will reflect on our first week and talk about how perseverance and courage help us grow as learners.

We look forward to another joyful week with your scholars!

Warmly,
🌻 The Third Grade Team

Happy First Day!

Welcome to Third Grade!

Thank you to everyone who came to Meet the Teacher on Friday. We were thrilled to welcome you all into our classrooms and begin building our third grade community!

The first day of school is Tuesday, August 12th.We cannot wait to welcome your scholar into our classrooms again!

This week we're focusing on procedures, routines and systems. All things which we will need to practice so we can have an orderly and joyful year! Part of our dismissal routine is allowing students to read silently after they have completed their homework. Please send your scholar to school with a silent reading bookYou might also want to send your scholar with a healthy snack

All About Me Bag Reminder: If you attended Meet the Teacher, your child received a Me Bag in their folder. They may fill it with 3 small items that represent who they are (such as a favorite photograph, a treasured keepsake, or a special trinket) and bring it to share with the class on Tuesday. Students who were unable to attend are also encouraged to participate by bringing their own small bag from home with 3 small items to share.

As we will need perseverance this week in learning and relearning our procedures we will also be reading our poem for the week:

Try, Try Again
by William Edward Hickson

It's a lesson you should heed,
Try, try again.

If at first you don't succeed,
Try, try again.

Then your courage should appear,
For if you will persevere,
You will conquer, never fear,
Try, try again.

Warmly,
🌻 Third Grade Team
