Quarter 3 Week 7

 Hello Third Grade Families, 

It is our final week in February and finishing the friendship virtue month strong! 

Content Corner:
  • Math- We are working on area and perimeter. A=l x w       P=s+s+s+s 
  • It is a focus on arrays and multiplying. Help with the multiplication recall using flash cards at home for additional practice. 
  • Spalding- We have 20 words this week and test on Friday. 
  • Reading-Read aloud 20 minutes each night and scholars are filling out the reading log. (Parents just initial) Make sure they are writing in complete sentences. Also, make sure students are reading books at their reading level. 
  • Literature- We are reading additional Viking Tales and Norse mythology this week. Start bringing, The Jungle Book, to class. Use the links on the side to find the correct version. The poem, The Tide Rises, is recited on Friday, February 28th. 
  • Grammar- We are continuing to learn how to look up words in the dictionary and write persuasively. We also are looking at interjections and using proper quotations. 
  • Science-We are continuing to discover climate and weather this week! Study guide will go home today and test on Friday!

Quarter 3 Week 6

 Hello Third Grade Families, 

It is a full February! 

Content Corner:
  • Math- We are working on area and perimeter. It is a focus on arrays and multiplying. Keeping fresh the multiplication with flash cards. 
  • Spalding- We have 20 words this week and test on Friday. 
  • Reading-Read aloud 20 minutes each night and scholars are filling out the reading log. (Parents just initial) Make sure they are writing in complete sentences.
  • Literature- We are finishing Pinocchio this week. Ask your scholar what they are learning as Pinocchio brings out wonderful questions. Seminar on Thursday and Test on Friday. The new poem, The Tide Rises, will be due Friday, February 28th. 
  • Grammar- We are learning how to look up words in the dictionary and write persuasively. 
  • History- We are continuing to explore the Vikings this week. Make sure they review their study guide for the test coming up. We are slowly filling it in as a class.

Quarter 3 Week 5

 Hello Third Grade Families, 

It is a full February! We are excited to welcome parents into the Third Grade this week! 

Content Corner:
  • Math- Continue to work with your scholar on telling time. We are beginning learning area and perimeter.
  • Spalding- We have 30 words this week and test on Friday. 
  • Reading-Read aloud 20 minutes each night and scholars are filling out the reading log. (Parents just initial) Make sure they are writing in complete sentences.
  • Literature- We are reading Pinocchio this week. Ask your scholar what they are learning as Pinocchio brings out wonderful questions. The new poem, Dream Variations, will be due this Friday, February 14th. 
  • Grammar- We are writing expository paragraphs and learning how to use a dictionary.
  • Science- We are discovering meteorologists and all about the weather.
Updates and Events:
  • No school for President's Day February 17th
  • Viking Celebration-March 5th, sign ups go live Wednesday at 4:00pm
  • We are low on some supplies. If you would like to bring in a box of EXPOS, PENCILS, or RED PENS, that would be wonderful! Thank you!

Quarter 3 Week 4

 Hello Third Grade Families, 

It is a full February! Thank you for encouraging your scholars and 

Content Corner:
  • Math- We are learning how to tell time with duration and elapsed clocks. You can encourage your scholar to tell time at home so they can solidify their learning at home!
  • Spalding- We have 20 words this week and test on Friday. 
  • Reading-Read aloud 20 minutes each night and scholars are filling out the reading log. (Parents just initial) Make sure they are writing in complete sentences.
  • Literature- We are reading Pinocchio this week. Ask your scholar what they are learning as Pinocchio brings out wonderful questions. The new poem, Dream Variations, will be due February 14th. 
  • Grammar- We are learning how to write a friendly letter which will help for Friendship Day!
  • History- We are learning about the Vikings! Ancient Rome Test is tomorrow!

  • Field Day to the Witte 2/6 use this link to sign up and pay for the field trip. 
  • Friendship day 2/7- Read the letter sent home in the take home folder to make cards for classmates. Please bring your creative cards/goodies by February 6th. Email your teacher if you have further questions. 
  • Family Game Night 2/7
  • Parent Open House 2/11-14- a sign-up will be sent out soon.
