Hello Third Grade Families,
We are entering the last weeks of school! Let's finish strong!
Content Corner:
- Math- We are beginning long division this week. Remind your scholar to show perseverance as they are learning a new concept which can be tricky at first, but they will get it in time. Quiz on Friday.
- Spalding- We have 20 words this week. Spalding Test on Friday.
- Reading-Read aloud 20 minutes each night and scholars are filling out the reading log.
- Literature-We are reading about the 13 colonies this week in Literature and focusing on reading comprehension and close reading strategies. Our new final poem was given yesterday, Knoxville, TN and will be due 5/23.
- Grammar- We are starting our final writing this year as a Procedural Writing. Each scholar will do a "How To" procedural presentation after their written paper. Tonight, a Home-Connect will be sent home to approve the desired How-To presentation. It needs to be something that can easily be taught at school with supplies that are able to be transported to school by themselves. It is a fun project and presentation for the scholars to share their knowledge with the class.
- Science- We are learning about the sun, planets, and how our universe orbits. Science Test, Wednesday, May 14th, science study guide is in green folders and should be reviewed each night for at least 5 minutes to be successful!
Updates and Events:
- Please return all Library Books by the end of this week
- Bring the Little Prince book to begin next week
- End of the Year MAP Testing- May 12th and 13th
- Last day of School May 29th
We are thankful for the joy of teaching your scholar!
Joyfully,
🌻 Third Grade Team
