We had a wonderful first week of third grade, and we are excited to begin Quarter 1, Week 2! This week, we will continue practicing our classroom routines and systems while diving more deeply into our academic subjects. We will also reflect on our first week together and discuss how perseverance and courage help us grow as learners.
Coming Up in Literature
On Monday, August 24, we will begin reading Little House on the Prairie! We are looking forward to starting our first novel together and exploring the adventures of the Ingalls family.
In our CKLA Literature unit, scholars will continue strengthening their reading comprehension skills by finding text evidence to support their answers.
Grammar and Writing
In Grammar and Writing, we will work on writing summaries and identifying the elements of a complete sentence. Scholars will have a Complete Sentence Quiz this week.
Math
In Math, we will continue our work with place value, comparing and ordering numbers, and number patterns. Scholars will have a Math Quiz on Friday covering these concepts.
Science
In Science, we will continue learning about life cycles. Scholars will get to see this process in action through our lima bean observation experiment, as we observe and record changes over time.
Curriculum Night
Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for Curriculum Night on Wednesday, August 26, from 6:00–8:00 p.m.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about third grade, meet the teachers, and hear about the exciting learning we have planned for the year.
We are so proud of the strong start our scholars have made and look forward to another joyful week of learning and growing together!
